The Office of Admissions is the front-facing department to the public for undergraduate recruitment for the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting the freshman class each year, counseling prospective students and their families about the admissions process, providing accurate information to the public about our recruiting requirements and standards, and marketing Indiana University Bloomington.

Job Summary 

The Senior Assistant Director is responsible for designing and implementing coordinated recruitment processes for domestic admissions for the Bloomington Campus in Texas with secondary recruitment markets in Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico. Additional recruitment markets in the South and Southwest may be added to meet university enrollment goals.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Responsible for attracting, recruiting, and enrolling new students to the IU Bloomington campus through the design and implementation of coordinated recruitment processes and the management of various projects on the Office of Admissions Recruitment Team.
  • Responsible for the Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico recruitment territory and application evaluation, developing a target range of students to enroll to meet campus enrollment goals by determining the number of prospects, applications and admits needed to complete this target.
  • Represents the IU Office of Admissions in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico at recruitment at high schools, college fairs, conferences and seminars.
  • Maintains university enrollment relationships with Tribal organizations in Oklahoma with historic ties to the State of Indiana.
  • Uses data-informed strategies in the development and execution of territory management and other recruitment activities to increase student yields.
  • Develops and manages a detailed project schedule and work plan.
  • Executes work in a cross-functional recruitment model.
  • In collaboration with campus departments, schools, and other lead Admissions staff, identify models and best practices for innovative outreach to applicants and parents to include such models as on-campus opportunities supported by student staff and student coordinators.
  • Provides project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Applies an asset-based approach to their work, making Indiana University welcoming to all.
  • Serves as Office of Admissions "liaison" with an academic unit with responsibilities for updating Admission staff on new initiatives or changes to processes and leveraging this knowledge in cross team collaboration and training with office of admissions colleagues to provide greater insight into school specific programs, trends and opportunities.
  • Informs file review process by monitoring funnel data and enrollment goals at The College, regularly analyzing and reporting this data out, advising colleagues and leadership on relevant trends or interruptions in markets that could impact overall achievement of enrollment goals.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.
  • Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
  • Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
  • Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
  • Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
  • Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.
  • May attend meetings or serve on committees with the admissions stakeholders, including all staff meetings, recruitment, and outreach team meetings, customer service lead meetings, and undergraduate recruitment council meetings; may provide guidance to other admissions counselors.

EDUCATION
