Our Director of College Counseling will play an essential role in ensuring our students have the skills and information necessary to apply for college and be successful college students when they graduate from Austin Achieve.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement a program for college acceptance and 100% graduation of senior class.  
  2. Manage and coach college seminar 9-12 teachers around instructional practice and student data during weekly meetings
  3. Oversee College Seminar courses, including curriculum development, formative and summative assessments. 
  4. Manage and coach the Dean of College Completion (alumni counselor)
  5. Aid the Campus Testing Coordinator with the implementation of Pre-ACT, ACT, TSIA2.0, and ASVAB exams
  6. Develop and maintain strong relationships with scholars and their families 
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with college and university admissions representatives, including hosting multiple rep campus visits in the fall and spring.
  8. Maximize access to school-based, and community-based resources. 
  9. Plan several college visits for multiple grade levels during the school year.
  10. Plan and execute campus events, including but not limited to Graduation, College Signing Day, 100% Applied Ceremony, FAFSA Night, 9th-11th Parent Financial Aid Night, and Senior Parent Meetings
  11. Prepare trainings to support teachers and staff in implementing college-ready strategies in all high school classes.  
  12. Maintain accurate records of senior class data (financial, acceptance, FAFSA, etc.) and report to leadership team in a weekly check-in.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
  14. Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and compliance with state and federal law. 
  15. Maintain adequate safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of information.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree 
  2. Fluent Spanish speakers strongly preferred. 
  3. Willingness to work collaboratively with teachers to support students’ needs. 
  4. Deep seated belief in the mission and vision of Austin Achieve. 
  5. Willingness to do “whatever it takes” to ensure all students are prepared for academic success.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous success working with Austin Achieve scholars and staff/teachers.
  • Two years’ minimum experience with low-income, diverse adolescent populations.
  • Experience initiating projects and working independently, without close supervision.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering most of the employee premium for the base medical plan and subsidizing costs for a spouse/domestic partner and children. Other benefits include dental and vision plans, disability, life insurance, parental leave, subsidized childcare, paid time off, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan. 
  • Teachers are eligible for additional stipends for additional certifications, serving as a mentor teacher/Grade Level Chair, or running extracurricular activities.
