About This Role:

Lamar University Regional Admissions Counselors are responsible for recruiting prospective students by promoting Lamar University programs to undergraduate students, pre-admission advisement and matriculation to ensure enrollment goals are met. This position is a remote position in the Dallas and East Texas area and will live in the regional area and reports directly to one of the Assistant Directors of Admissions – Recruitment.

What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
  • Recruit prospective freshman students by providing accurate and timely pre-admission advisement to prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public.
  • Facilitating the pre-admission, conversion, admission, and enrollment process through various sales methods and recruitment strategies to include, but not limited to automated and personalized communication, high school visits, pre-screened cold calling, presentations, etc.
  • Attending events and making presentations to communicate with prospective students and their parents to promote Lamar University and its programs.
  • Facilitate and implement recruitment planning and strategies for assigned territories and recruitment specialty areas based on managed yield data within a database system.
  • Assisting all prospective students, and their families while on call with the ApplyTexas Application, Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) and other pre-college preparation requirements and questions.
  • Train and mentor new Admissions Counselors and Regional Admissions Counselors throughout their first recruitment cycle through one-on-ones, team meetings, chat availability, shadowing opportunities, etc.
  • Working directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies in activities designed to prepare students for college and enrollment at LU.
  • Attend, collaborate, and assist in mandatory recruitment events both on-campus and off campus, including but not limited to Cardinal View, Admitted Student Day, Cardinal Sendoffs, Internal Staff Conferences, etc.
